I own a 2000 911 Millenium Edition porsche number '057' and I was curious to see how many other owners of these vehicles are there and to see how many total of the orginal production there are remaining.

I guess some people buy Porsches for exclusivity or something but the fact that I see one of two others a day where I live doesn't bother me at all (I see a lot more Caymans that 996s, for that matter).
I'm not the only one like that either. I was at the supermarket the other day and stopped to talk to another 996 owner -- turned out he had the same year, same colors in and out, only external difference was my rocker panel aero covers -- only difference inside was my Weathertech rubber floor mats rather than the factory carpet mats. He'd had his a year os so longer than me and admitted he was disappointed when he checked re-sale value. In my case I knew this would be the case going in and I got about $11k off sticker because it was the last one the dealer had among several 997s sitting there with more to come, so at least for me it will work out okay.

I for one cannot understand the antipathy against the 996, there is nothing wrong with the facelift and 3.6litre+ 3.596litre versions. However if prices continue to fall this will just make them that much more of a good deal to buy for the budding 911 owner, especially the Turbo, Turbo S and the GT3. If you are lucky to have got one and prices are falling, remember you only "make the loss when you sell it". Motto keep it and improve it with Power, Appearance , Brakes etc. See my photos

You're lucky to own a car that most can only dream about. If you bought it as an investment, I think you're probably going to be disappointed... Most cars lose money, so enjoy it, drive it, and forget about what's it worth, ... I've had alot Porsches over the last twenty years, never regretted any, just enjoyed them.. Lost some money, and will probably lose some again, but that's all in the game.
