I've got an '86 944 and have been searching for a cold air intake to replace the k&N element, does anybody know where to get this item? Some people have told me you probably have to have it custom made which is a pain in the neck. Any sugestions?

Pretty much you have to custom make it. Search the net for a DIY (Do It Yourself). I saw one once, but it was deep in there. If you do find a company that makes one, do everyone a favor and post it.

What about "Huntley Racing"? Or do they only make'em for the 951's?

Huntley Racing is long since out of business.

The 944 came with a factory "cold air intake." The intake comes from the fender well area, where else would you like it to come from?

If you mean a cone filter (which is NOT CAI) then yeah, there are plenty of places to get them.

I wouldn't recommend them, though. I have a good friend who worked at Autothority and he said that the cone filters don't do jack for performance. Or that's what their research said, anyway. They do sound better with them, though...
