I have decided to make the jump and get my first Porsche.  I have always loved them, especially the 80's turbo style, and am finally at a point where I can get my first Porsche.  I've decide that I want to stay away from the air cooled models and stick with one that is newer, from around 2001 - 2004.  I am trying to decide on the model that I want to go with, but I really like the C4S.

The car will become my daily driver so I am looking for something that is more reliable than not.  I travel for work almost every week so I would most likely only put about 8,000-10,000 miles on the car a year.

Any advice would be great.

Hi & welcome to the forum!

The build quality of the Porsche is exceptional, so as long as you buy a good one and keep up the matainance, sure you can use one as a daily driver! (Porsches are designed to be driven, not parked up in a garage!)

The C4S has better handling than the rear wheel drive models, but have been critisised for not being as entertaining also. I would think that they do less miles per gallon than their 2wd brothers also?

All the best in your hunt for your Porsche. Why not post some pic's once you have one?

I am very happy with my '04 C2.  It is stone reliable and very comfortable as a daily driver.  I got the Tiptronic which is an inspired choice for daily driving in traffic.

Well the new ones are good as a DD, As for which one, well one things for sure, If you live somwhere where it snows, then you might want to go with the C4
Other wise you will be just as good with a C2,

Thanks for the replies.  I am in the process of selling my boat, once it goes I will be replacing my current daily driver that I use to tow it with (04 F250 CC 4X4) as well.  I just do not have time for the boat anymore because of all the travel I have to do for work.

Cars have always been a passion of mine since I was a kid.  My wife gives me a hard time by stating that we are going to have a 10,000 square foot garage with a 600 square foot apartment on top to house all of the classic cars.  I'll just state that Jay Leno is my hero, :)  These are two that I am lucky enough to currently own,
