A lot of people buy the Haynes book at autoparts stores. It's a fair reference about your car but be aware that it is a general book and won't answer a lot of common questions you may come up with. Also for electrical troubleshooting, be aware that there are several schematics and that you use the appropriate one for your car year and model.
This forum is a great resource for problems that will inveritably occur with your car. I have had two late model 944's and I have gotten a lot of good info from this site.

The late model 944 puts out 143 bhp (if it's running up to par). Not real powerful but I do love mine.
