I have a GT Silver '07 Carrera S with the 19" Carrera Classic wheels. I've been wanting to put black rims on the car for a while, but I haven't really found a style that I like as much as the Carrera Classic. This has led me to consider having the stock rims painted black. Has anyone out there done it and do you have any pictures? Is the finish on painted rims as durable as the factory finish?

You should be able to pull the tires and have any paint shop paint them, just make sure they clear them as well.  Another option is to powdercoat them.

Thanks. The one shop I talked to recommended the same. They charge about $1000, which seemed pretty reasonable to me.

That isn't too bad for paint.  Usually powdercoating runs about $100 a wheel.

I heard its not good to powdercoat wheels, being if you ever get a crack in it, you wont be able to see it with powdercoating

Trust me, if the wheel cracks, the powdercoating will as well, it isn't that durable.
