Can any one give advice on my 944 blower controller it will only work on the 4th speed only or the windscreen fast clear. i.e what to try first ??

I would bet good money its your ballast resistor. Its two copper disks located near the fan blower motor (under the plastic shroud on later model 944's) and the connection tend to corrode over time. Try cleaning the contacts and see if that does it, if not it probably needs to be replaced.
