My RS60 has the base factory sound system, which is pretty weak.
I''m looking to upgrade the speakers, amp, and possibly add a small sub.
What size speakers are in the boxster? Has anyone performed an audio system upgrade on this car?
thanks!

i''m taking my 97 boxster in to a shop in a few days to upgrade the system. i''m replacing the 4 factory speakers (2 on the dash and 2 in the doors) with JL Audio XR''s (they''re also going to put damper panels in the doors to reduce rattle noise or w/e its called), then a 8" Rockford Fosgate flat sub in the passenger side footwell (they''ll build a box for it), all of these will be hooked up to a 5 channel Alpine amp in the front trunk. I''ll put some pics up after it''s done. Sound quality should be decent, since they are good speakers and it''s such a small enclosure.

excellent news - if you get a chance, inquire as to the door speaker size - and if they know what the center fill speaker size is. I''m hoping its the same sizes in my RS60.

not sure if you have found what you were looking for or not yet, and if not, sorry i took so long to reply...been busy. the shop put in 4" JL Audio CXi''s on the dash, and 5-1/4" CXi''s in the doors. Then a 8" JL Audio 8W3V3 in a fiberglass box in the passenger footwell, cuts the legroom in half, but i dont sit there so i didnt care haha. Also all these are hooked up to a 5 channel amp, a Alpine PDX-5 in the front trunk. they took the old amp out and placed the new one next to where the old one was. I would rather of put in better speakers, such as Bose, but being broke, i put in what i could afford. i''ll probably change the speakers next year though. here''s a few pics
