Hello. I am a 22 year old college student working two jobs and I am now the proud new owner of a 1985 944 with just under 55.5k miles on it. To be honest I never thought I'd own a Porsche, not even one that's older than I am. I figured with my new piece of German engineering I should get in touch with some people that could help me out in case anything goes wrong (and in a 23 year old car, Porsche or not, there's bound to be something).

The car itself is in great condition, with only minor cosmetic flaws.

Well, it was...

On the way back from buying it (the seller lived some 180 miles away), the right rear tire blew out on me. I don't blame the seller. The tires had less than 2k miles on them, over 90% tred depth, and looked to be fine. It was just the 70 mph and 130 degree 5:00 Texas highways that did it in.

The car has developed a slight rattle in the back that seems to only occur whenever I hit a bump that sends a vibration through the frame. I suspect it's just some heatshielding or some such that's gotten knocked loose from the tire, but I'm afraid of the possibility it could be worse. See, I didn't know about the fact that you're not supposed to jack up a 944 by the rear transmission, and we did just that to get the spare onto the car.

Anyways, just thought I'd get in touch with a community that is as excited about these cars as I am and could help me get to know my car better ^^
