Reliability of 1999 996 Porsche 911

I have been researching a 1999 Porsche 911. The car is the standard 6 speed model with around 16k miles.

What are the major concerns I should have when looking at buying the car? Does a budget of 2k per year for maintenance seem unrealistic? Will an eleven year old Porsche with low mileage have engine seal problems etc? Would the car be capable of being driven 5k miles a year or does that seem unrealistic? Are the newer 911s (water cooled, post 1998) as reliable as the older ones?

Thanks so much.

Just saw the 996 buyers guide here. My apologies for asking questions that have been largely answered. Any horror stories about 996 911s being unreliable?

well 11 years for a Porsche is not old enough, as the engines are strong like anything..but then ofcourse it depends on what kind of treatment the vehicle would have received in those 11 years.

I agree to this guy.. 1999 996 Porsche 911 are known for reliability even after decades.. I mean porsche parts on that car are tough enough to withstand years of use.. I'm new here by the way.. cheers
