I'm looking for a replacement battery for 2002 996 Carrera 4S. My car has been in the garage all winter and the battery will not hold a charge. Any recomendations?

Thanks for the tip. What made you go with the odyssey battery? I called a porsche dealership and they would install it for $350. Is the odyssey a better battery then the factory part?

I put an Odyssey in my car last year when I first bought it. It was recommended by my dealer and supposedly is better than the original part. Since I've only had it for a year, its hard to say.

Everyone told me the Odyssey was the way to go, including my dealer as well.

Hot911TT--did you order one on line or buy through a dealer?

The Porsche battery is junk, so stay away from those. If you simply want a replacement battery, you can pick up any group 48 battery and it will fit. It will be a little shorter than the long original battery, but there is another tie down point for that size in the tray. We usually use interstate group 48 batterys for about $100. They seem to last the longest. With that being said, you can not leave any battery in a car for months at a time without starting the car and getting the battery charged up. The battery will drain flat over time, and once it is flat, if it stays there too long, the battery will be shot. Install a trickle charger and plug that in if you plan on leaving the car sit for more than a week or two.
