I have been thinking about purchasing a Boxster S. My wife and I drove a 06 with 13000 miles last week and was very impressed with the handling and ride my concerns would be reliability and maintaince cost compared to a c6 corvette. My wife really likes the boxster because of the open top and look of the car which I do to . Any info would be helpful .

The boxsters are very reliable cars.  For the most part, you put gas and oil in them and drive them.  Very little maintenance actually needed.  Of course with any car model there are some bad apples now and again, but overall, they are great daily drivers.

Hi guys,
I too am a  "Newbie" from Western NC.
I have always liked the Boxter and can''t afford the outrageous prices for a C-2 vette.
My budget is around $25K. What year would be best. I think I really want an S model.
Thanks for the help
Jeff

Another Newbie here.

I am about to purchase a 2000 Base Boxster from a friend of ours.  I have run a carfax report on the vehicle and driven it.  Everything looks good and the car appears to be in good shape and has 41,000 miles.

Do I need to purchase an extended warranty on this vehicle?  I got a $2,489 quote from Carchex for a "Comprehensive" 24 month 24,000 mile policy and $2,424 for a 36 month 36,000 mile "Essential" policy.    This is my first adventure with a car like this (and I do realize repairs are considerably more expensive than a domestic) and I am just looking for a little advice.

Purchase price of the vehicle is $17,000

Thanks
