Am buying a new Carerra.  Dealer is trying to get me to buy two post sales products: (1) a paint protection (sounds like a fancy wax job) to protect paint luster along with a leather protector (sounds like the stain/splill protector you put on your leather couch) to protect interior agains spills/stains for $1999; (2) and a plastic laminate on the front bumper, hood, and door edges to prevent the paint from chipping is struck by rocks etc for $2599.  Anybody had any experience with either of these?

How long is the protection on the paint in general and the leather etc guaranteed for? In the UK these packages are sold for new Mercedes etc for approx $600 and last 3 years. My experience particular with what we call "Scotchguarding" on the interior trim, does work. As on the exterior I'm a regular "polisher" anyway  I probably waste my money on the exterior protection.
Plastic films are possibly worth the money (not necessarily through your Dealer, as there are better deals to be had in the US I'm sure!) if you plan to do any track work, or you are exposed to road grit and stones on your daily drive etc.
I would do a bit more research on the web for better deals. Also other US Forum Members may have suggestions of other proven suppliers.
Re door edge protection you can buy neat self adhesive clear plactic protectors for next to nothing anyway.
