anyone know if these should just turn out fairly easy after some penetrating oil -seem a little rusted but not bad - don''t want to over torque and break something...

Did you loosen the nut? They can be pretty tight even with the nut loose.

yes loosened nuts on both -one unscrewed easily by hand the other I can barely back out with vice grips - maybe take off whole assembly to see what is going on in there? got to get right size star tool I guess..
