I''m considering a RUF supercharger conversion for my 2005 997 Carrera S Cabriolet. It''s not inexpensive, but far less than a new Turbo and is the only way to get a high-performance RWD cab that I know of.
I know they have a great reputation, but I''ve not been able to find any reviews or references for the conversion. Any comments or pointers?
Thanks

Have you tried RUFs own website?

Yes, I have. There is basic information about the conversion, but little in the way of references to reviews, customer testimonials, etc. Further, I''ve searched the web high and low and have a number of references to their cars - i.e. a car sold by RUF as new, encompassing many features and design changes. But nothing on just the basic supercharger conversion.
Thanks

As a general point RUF have a very positive image in Europe for their stuff. They also have TUV (German Government Certification) approval for their own "complete vehicle Porsche products".
I can remember reading in either "GT Porsche, Total 911, or 911 & Porsche World" a review of their Supercharger Conversion, but my wife insists I dont leave my car mags lying around the house. I''ll go up in the loft and have a search when I get five munutes.
Try the Websites of these 3 mags and see if you can locate the article in a back issue.

Regards Big Bob

My apologies. It is the EVT700 in the September 2008 issue of Excellence (P. 132+), not RUF. I think there is a RUF article in European Car (May 2006, Vol. # 5) "Brother It''s a RUF Life: The German Tuner Unleashes Its Twin Turbo RT12."

Anyway, I hope this helps a bit and good luck. There MUST be quality reviews out there somewhere given RUFs reputation.

Thanks. I''ll take a look. It is weird that there are few references. They''re clearly a big name, great rep, yellow bird and all. Just odd. Maybe most folks who Ruf their cars start with a turbo rather than an ''S''. I have seen a few articles on those. Hmmmm...

Maybe you could give them a call (their US center is in Dallas) and ask them for references.  I''m sure they have several people who''d be willing to tell you about their conversions.

Good luck!
