Why should I NOT buy a 996?
 

Hello,

Can anyone tell me how much a 996 would cost yearly in maintenance alone? A Buddy is telling me that it costs 5-6 thousand a year " Oil changes are almost a $1000, and disks and pads are $3,000 "

Is changing the oil on this car that hard? I am not sure what warrants 940-960 dollars in labor.. Any other reasons caveats about this car? The cars I am looking at in particular are 1999, and 2000 Carrera 4 Coupe's

Your buddy must giving a big tip. I only pay about $120 for an oil change at an independent dealer anduse mobile 1 synthetic oil. Dealers may charge a bit more. Changing it yourself is not that hard.

wow he is grossly over estimating that. you only need one to two oilchanges a year depending on mileage and why would you replace the breaks every year? only the pccbs take that kind of money to work on.

The only reason i had for ya was that i think the 996 is ugly and the 99 is the ugliest with the old school boxster looking headlights. other than that its a great car.

Lol, an oil change takes 15 minutes, and 9 quarts of oil, and 1 oil filter. Less than $100. Obviously your buddy does not know what he is talking about.

Pads are maybe $75 for the fronts or rears, and rotors about $150 each. They are easier to change than any american car.

We can’t change choice of people through our views. This is the main reason that people are behind the race of brand and want to stick to it. Therefore this car doesn’t achieve that much consideration which it deserves.

I also using it and happy with it today. Oil changing maintenance depending on average of your vehicle, so do not worry about it. I will recommend you to just go for it, it could be good for you.
