Engine #s ??

I just acquired a 1965 356 C , and the VIN # tells me it's a Karmann coach , but the motor in it now doesn't appear on my restoration guide , and it definitely wasn't the original motor ... I have the original as well and the numbers on that one matchup to the VIN # of the car . Can anyone tell me what car this motor came out of ?? Engine # 746093 ... Administrators please help me out :) , thanks !!

OK , I just found out the motor is out of a 1966 912 ... so being that my car is a 1965 356 C , and the motor is from a '66 912 , does that put my car in the "Outlaw" class ?? Also , does anyone know what the stock HP numbers were for the '66 912 motor ?? Thanks for the help ... FV

This may be the original one the model difference may have placed you in a confusion.
