I just bought a 1983 944 non-turbo. could some one give me some ways to make some HP with out putting a turbo on?

Lol, this is the #1 question asked by new 944 owners, but sorry, it just isn't going to happen on an NA 944. You can spend money on a cam, and headers, etc, and you will get minimal gains for the money spent. If you want 200hp out of an NA motor, figure about $15-20k from John Milledge.

Save your money on hp items, and upgrade the suspension so the car will be faster in the curves. They are meant to be road racers, not drag cars. The early NA cars are a lot of fun as daily drivers. They are light and nimble, and you can really toss them around. They are fast on the road course with the right suspension.

If you need hp, then sell the 83, and buy a 86-89 turbo. You will be a lot of money ahead by doing so.

how much would you say it would cost to put a turbo on it. to make it have some HP??and what kind of Hp would it produce if i could go with the Turbo

To convert the engine to a turbo setup, and a compression that can handle it, you are looking at an absolute minimum of about 5k using used parts, and doing the work yourself.

I just created a writeup on hp gains on the 944, but for some reason the 944 forum is not letting me start a new post at the moment, so I will try to post the sticky later. The forum software must still have a few bugs in it.

Installing turbo in Porsche 1983 944 is a money consuming process but If you want to do so then you can but there are some technical deformities which will arise in your vehicle like there is no guarantee that your investment has certainly accepted by the your vehicle as it might break down after a few years. Therefore drop this idea and spend some money on looking for the car as over its head and other side frames.
