Default Front hood struts

I've searched the site and can't find any related posts, so does anyone know the trick (or tricks) used to replace the drivers side piston/shock/strut (which keeps the front hood open) on a 1980 911 Targa??? The passenger side was a snap, but the drivers side is blocked by the fuel filler tube. There is no way (that I can see) of getting to the lower locking pin. And using only one piston (on the passenger side) twists the hood off line. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Mike

Default RE: Front hood struts

Mike, I'm sorry I can't help you with your problem, but I think you may get an answer if you post your question in the 911 section.
