1983 944 no start
 

I have a friend with a 944 and it was running fine.He was driving the car and it just shut off as if you turned the key off.The engine cranks over but does not start.I have found the engine has no spark at the plugs ,the fuel pump does not run and the injector harness will not light a noid light.I have checked the pins in the computer connector forpositive and negative but I can not find any info on what pins on the computerconnector should be positive or negative.The only computer I have found is around $700.00 that would be an exspensive misdiagnosis on my part to assume the computer is bad without knowing for sure.please help

Do you have a Hanes Manual? It will probably tell you the answer. If I can find mine, I'll look up the answer for you.

First, replace your fuel pump/dme relay. It is about 25 bucks. If that doesn't cure it, then I would look at your speed and reference sensors or the harness running from those sensors to your DME>
