1999 carrera

I am in the market to buy a 1999 carrera. I have researched the models and find the 1999 996 most desireable. Can anyone help me with what I should expect for maintanence costs per year at the 30-50k mile range?

Thanks for any help!

Pete

it really depends on how well the car has been maintained prior to your acquiring it

RE: 1999 carrera

I bought my 1999 911 new and picked it up late 1998. The car has given me no problems and all I have done is oil changes and tires at about 15k back and 20k miles front. The tires are about a $1200 thrill.

The oil change which includes complete service is $380 at a dealer. if you go somewhere else,no dealerfor an oil change it will be about $57. The Porsche is very well made and a good looking cheap date.

The earlier post was spot on it really depends on how well the car was taken car of and how it was driven.I must admit I have not really taken great care ofmine andI drive it with enthusiams. it has still been perfect. Some folks have had problem with the plastic antifreze overflow bottle.

I did not catch where you live but if you live in a cold climate you will not want to use the "Z" rated tires in the winter with snow or ice. In Germany they are illegal to use at ambient temperatures at 40 deg F or lower. These tires because of the rubber compound get very hard at low temperature so you will have zero traction. I mean zero in snow or ice. The car is very tail heavy so you will find yourself going down the hill backwards. I have done it 4 times in NJ. So if it is a everyday driver with no other options, winter tires are a good idea. With winter tires these cars are very good. Germany is a cold climate after all :)

Good luck to you and your purchase.

Lee
