82 911 SC Won't Start

Just got my 82 911 SC out of storage after a year, put a new battery in it andthe Porscheservice rep suggested addingsome additive in the fuelto clear the injectors before doing an oil change BUTwhen I turned the key the engine would not turn over. Any suggestions on what the problem may be.

So when you hit the key, the car does not make any noises? Or does it turn over (ie crank), but not start?

No noise at all. There are 2 red lights that come on on the panel but nothing from the engine.

make sure your connection at the battery post is good and tight, do you have interior lihgts and are the head lights coming on? next thing to check would be all your fueses and one more thing the battery it is the right group size?? cause that engine takes a little bit of juice to turn over.

Obviously something electrical. Could be the starter gummed up a a little, which can usually be tested with a quick blow to the starter with a hammer (I don't recommend this for anything but testing purposes). Could also be a bad ground.

Pull the battery cables at the battery again, and clean the insides of the cables good with a terminal cleaner (wire brush). You might just have some corrosion built up on the cables.

Had to remove the old battery since it would not hold a charge and got one from a local auto supply store vs Porsche. Cleaned cables connectors but with no success. Since I live a distance from an authorized dealership and did not want anyone local checking it out I called the dealership and had it towed to have it looked at. Still in the shop. Hopefully something minor. I'm trying to learn about the mechanics of the car so I know what I am talking about when there is a problem and perhaps do somethings myself. Thanks much for the input. Will let you know the outcome. Any suggestions you can give me as a 911 owner would be greatly appreciated.
