Well, then you have 3 options.

1. Reference sensor issue. Since you replaced the front sensor, it is possible the harness is bad on the DME end. Did you disconnect both the reference and the speed sensor at the same time....are you sure you hooked them back up to the correct plug on the harness?

2. DME relay. Since you replaced it, you can rule it out

3. DME. Bad DME computer.

Some guys have had success taking the computer to a electronics repair shop to resolder any cold joints there may be. For an NA though, DME's are usually a dime a dozen on ebay, and can be had pretty cheap. It is always a good idea to keep a spare on hand for situations like this.

Thanks for your help. I didnt have both unhooked. Could the speed sensor be bad and cause it not to start.

RE: 83 944 still will not crank

IIRC the speed sensor can be bad and the car will still start. That is the sensor closest to the firewall. Did you check your gap on the sensor when you installed it? It should be .8mm clearance between the flywheel and the sensor.

I DIDNT KNOW BEFORE THAT MY DAD HAD HOOKED THE BATTERY DIRECTLY TO THE COIL. AFTER REPLACING TDC,DME RELAY STILL NO START. ALSO NOTICED MY FUEL ECONOMY GUAGE IS NOT MOVING. WHAT COULD HE HAVE DONE BY TRYING THAT???????
