Engine wise there isn't much. A chip will get you about 10hp. The cone filters are not worth it, any gain in hp from the cone filter is lost with the fact that you are sucking hot air in, as the filter takes all of it's air from in front of the engine. Suspension on the other hand is a different story. M030 front and rear sway bars to start with, as well as upgrading to koni or bilstein struts/shocks will GREATLY increase the handling of the car.

I posted a cone filter on my 87 944. I did it in a manner so it actually takes in air from underneath the car at the rear of the engine. I'll post pics soon! Works great.

Like PorscheDoc say's, there's not alot of bolt on performance for a 1988 944, but, you could try bolt off performance! (Loosing weight helps any car go faster!)

Won't that suck in water? The thing to do is to find a Porsche 924 turbonose piece with the little grill and stuffing the filter in there. I might do that since my friend got me a stupid cone filterand insisted that we put it in on the spot. It just sucks hot air from my alternator.
