Boxster S wheel bearings

Has any body had problems with the rear wheel bearings?

daysailor7 05-05-2009 07:08 PM

Yes! Today I learned that my right rear wheel bearing was bad. To replace it will cost $850! My S has only 49K miles. I have NEVER had a car's wheel bearing fail--this includes cars I've driven for 150K miles. How could you be a performance car company and produce cars with such poor running gears?

Yes, the wheel bearings are known to start making noise, as is pretty common with the sealed bearings used in the porsche, vw, and audi families. They don't produce the bearings, they install bearings from probably the lowest bidding manufacturer, lol.
