Which Porsche?
Good morning all,
Am a newbie to the site andhoped to to get some opinions about a Porschepurchase I am considering. I have not owned a Porsche beforebut am in the market and havethe opportunity to buy a 2007 GT3 or a 2008 Turbo. I know these are very different cars, but wanted to know thoughts/opinions on which to get. I am familiar withhigh horsepower vehicles (have a couple in the stable now) but wanted one with some of the creature comforts of a daily driver. Ireally liked the test drives I took in both. I will use as a weekend driver forPCA group drives, rallies, and also as an occasional track weekend car (4-6 times per year). Thanks in advance. - Ian |
RE: Which Porsche?
It really depends on what you like. I prefer the GT3 - more balanced and pure in some sense. The Turbo is faster is a straight line, perhaps, but then drag races aren't either of these cars' forte. I'd thinkthe GT3 would be as fast as one needs in a daily driver and more funat the track.

Thanks, Lee. More fun at the track may be the deciding factor.

RE: Which Porsche?
I am a horsepower junky as well, but if I were looking at the two, I would lean towards the GT3 as well. Lighter and more nimble on the track. I have built 997TT's to well over 750hp, and they are a hell of a lot of fun, but they are a heavy car. The 997TT in the stock form is still a very fast car on the track, but again, if the option of the GT3 is there, I would lean towards the GT3.

Thanks, Doc.Just saw a Speed TV segment showing 3 Signal Green GT3's (1was a SharkWerks car) going around a track near the SF Bay area (Infineon, I think). Very nice.
