Porsche dead last
 

I read in today's USA Today this morning, while waiting on a business meeting, about the new Consumer Report ratings of cars, etc. (No US cars in the top ten, etc.) The article mentioned that Porsche was the "most unreliable brand" of automobile sold in the US, and said it was solely because of one model, the Cayenne.

I have heard so many sad ownership stories from Cayenne owners, from enough people and with plenty of lurid details that I believe they really must be possessed by demons as they come from the factory.

Such a shame.

Yeah, it's a shame. I wonder why the V.W. Tourag doesn't get such bad press?

Well, here is the States its for two reasons. First, not too many people buy the thing. Second, folks here expect VWs to give problems -- they have a recently well-earned reputation as a brand for being high maintenance if very nice drivers.

In late 2005 Porsche made the decision to acquire a 20 percent share (max allowed under German law) of VW (Germany's largest car company). A grandson of Ferdinand Porsche had been chairing the VW supervisory board. Did you know VW and Porsche had platform sharing between the VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne? [sm=badidea.gif] Its a no wonder the Cayenne has problems [sm=boohoo.gif] Lets hope with Porsches new investment role in VW, the Cayenne and hopefully VW will get better. [sm=goodidea.gif]
