Shopping for new toy
 

I recently sold a Corvette and am selling a 600+ hp hot rod. Now looking for a new toy that will be both a tear around town car and a long distance traveling car. My budget is mid to high $20K's so looking at late 90's 911's. Don't know a lot about Porsches and have never owned one. Never even driven one but I want a sports car that has the quality and solid feel of my Lexus but the power of the Vette and the 911 seams to be the only thing that fits that bill. Anything in particular I should look for? Do you think a standard 911 would satisfy my HP desires? I'm seeing a lot of cars with 100K + miles. Is this something to worry about? I do a lot of my own wrenching but don't want to dump a ton of $ into something (at least not without making it go faster!). Are there mild mods to make a 911 faster without sacrificing reliability? Thanks for the help.

Try looking into late 80's and early 90's Turbos...I Personally prefer the later 90's model 993's, but those are pretty pricey. Late 80's or early 90's..Pre 993 wouldbe more in your price range but you'll still have todosome shopping around...There are alot of Porsche guys who wouldn't mind selling way below market price for their turbo because they know its going to another Porsche guy..It wound't match a 600hp hot rod, but could definetly be something you'll have fun in. As for higher mileage, that's gunna be the case where ever you go...lower mileage means more money especially for the turbos. But either way..do someresearching of your own and find out which ones you like...Get into detail about differnt model year changes regarding engine technology and that sorta stuff..There is too muchfor me too list, and I wouldn't give you that greatan explanation anyway.Same goes with modifications...Alot can be done but still is gunna cost alot of bones.
