spacers

I am thinking of installing wheel spacers on my 4S. Any thoughts, experience, which size...

RE: spacers

wheel spacers, on ANY car, are a very bad idea...while it may look good, it is very dangerous...your wheel studs are designed to extend a certain distance into your lugnuts...when you install wheel spacers it creastes a gap between the normal mounting surface of the hub assembly, and the wheel itself. because of that gap, your lugnuts arent as far into the wheel studs, thus making it not as strong of a hold on the studs. also, when the lugs arent tightened down all the way, it causes stress at an odd angle on the hub assembly. i have seen a guy with a 68 mustang who installed spaces have them break on the left front wheel, and the car rolled...

all in all, it technically lowers the load bearing ability of the vehicles wheel studs.

i supposed that if you were to have longer studs installed, in the length greater over stock equal to the width of the spacer, you would have the same thread ratio inside the lugnut, but i have never heard of something like that occuring.

i would never do it on any of my cars, and i know that in quite a few US states, it is illegal.

RE: spacers

Thank you. I actually spoke to Poprsche and techart and both suggested against spacers, given the type of mags I have.
