Thinking about buying a Cayenne....
 

Hey guys,

I am in the process of buying a new car, and am interested in the Cayenne. The only thing that has be a bit startled about making this purchase would be the repair costs for this kind of vehicle. Is there anything i should be looking out for when purchasing one of these vehicles? Are repair costs for this vehicle through the outrageously expensive in comparison to other makes/models? About how many miles do these engines run for?

Service and repair costs are roughly in proportion to list price. It is an expensive car so it will cost alot to maintain. The engines will go as along as any other cars, but you have to maintain them as required and that costs more all along. Just be prepared for it.

No offense, but if you have to ask, maybe you should think a bit about it first . . .

Id really not bother with the cayenne. There are much better cars for less money. To be honest no one should ever buy a cayenne except if you live in rural china or have to ford a river on your way to work. If its just for you dont get an suv again unless you need to go offroad. if you have kids get go for a ford, toyota, chevy, or volkswagen. they are much better value for money too. The 30 and 60k services are pretty steep. Just finished one today, and even at my prices it was a little over a grand (he was quoted 2k at the dealer). Also, the early cayennes had some quirky electrical stuff, as well as some coolant pipe issues. The lower pipes weren't a big deal, but there is a group of pipes on top of the engine that have been updated to newer parts since that will eventually leak (the old parts, not the updated ones). That job runs about $1500-2000 and you will HAVE to do it at some point. If you can find a rig that has had that stuff done, they they can be good cars. Porsches in general though are expensive to maintain.
