Default Turbo vs GT3

Hey guys,

I recently became engrossed with and very interested in the 911 Porsches. I was browsing the specs GT3 and the Turbo and was wondering the real difference between the two besides the NA vs twin turbo engine? Is the GT3 more set up for the track while the turbo is more as a GT? I would like some opinions of the two models and why a person would buy a GT3 over a Turbo or vice versa (not including the price difference).

-Thanks in advance

Hi both cars have their strengths. For pure driving fun the GT3. For longer distance travel , comfort and commuting, the Turbo with Tiptronic is the answer. You need to drive both to come to the answer for your own needs.
I've done the mental debate on this too, and I'm still confused if you have to choose one.
Best answer is to have one of each[8D]

GT3's are definitely cool, but realize that the power you get out of the box is about what you are stuck with. A TT can be modified as much as your wallet can allow. If you want to put it on the track, then go with the GT3, if you want a street car, a TT can't be beat.

As the Doc says the TT will go with mods to 600bhp, while the GT3 upto 400bhp+ a little with tweaks on the 996 and more on the latest 997. The other important issue is 4WD on the Turbo, and 2WD on the GT3. Certainly the 4WD gives you an additional safety factor for the spirited driver (assuming you are not a Walter Rohrl), but with the GT3 you get a slim ****, while the Turbo has a fat one!
More to think about!

Thank you guys for all your input. I will consider all your given information when I go out and test drive these two cars and hopefully buy the one that's right for me.
