What's your greatest Porsche Experience?
 

I own a 911/964 Carrera 4 and this is my 3rd model after owning a 986/Boxster (1997-1999) and a 996/911 Carrera 2 (1999-2000).I was wondering about your first drive, how was it toget into your 911, the first time you heard the deep roar of an air-cooled flat six, the first time you took your car to a race track, the moment they handed you the keys, the corner you could only just hold, the reactions people gave you while cruising down town or any other personal experience with the greatest sports car on earth! :DLet's get inspired!!

What stands out is the time I'm sitting in the car in a parking lot in some upscale shopping center waiting for my wife who is shopping and mindingmy own business. An older woman (I'm 58 and she was much older than me) walks up and very politely says, "Sir, I wonder if you could tell me, what breed of car is that?" (She really said "breed").
I answered it was a Porsche.
She took it all in for a moment and then said, "Oh, then that means you have a lot of money."
To which I replied, "No m'am. It means I had a lot of money."

Then there is the time I lost a bet: the car got outrun right off the linefrom a light by my son driving our Camaro, starting out in 4th.

There was no epiphiney for me, no glorious moment when I took the key. It is quietly very satisfying, and I really do not look forward to the time I have to replace it, it being so easy to live with, but it's just a friggin' car, designed to a budget, built on assembly line, and sold for profit, better than most but not as good as others, and like all of them, destined for the scrap heap someday.

That made me ver klempt! I don't have a Porsche...yet. But when I do I will squeeze every bit of happiness and nirvana out of it I can. If I do my part I won't make anyone ver klempt.
