1978 porsche 911 targa
Hello All,
I'm interested in buying a "78 porsche 911 targa for a gentleman on craigslist. Here's the catch, it has electrical damage to the dash and gauges. He wants $8500 for it. He says, that he has rec'd quotes from $2500 to 3500 to repair it. The engine and trannie where just rebuilt 11,000 miles ago. Do you think the price is fair and for a new porsche onwer to tackle the electrical issues?:) |
RE: 1978 porsche 911 targa
Careful--parts for a 911SC the size of a D cell battery run $500 these days. I'd know for sure whatthe extent of the damage is and I'd find an electrical expert to do a PPI. I've learned the hard way that what youdon't see is very very expensive.

I agree, a good PPI should tell you what needs to be replaced and the cost... As far as your question as to a new porsche owner being able to tackle these problems, that depends on you and your mechanical abilities.... Good Luck.
