83 944 Starting issues

Hey everyone! I bought a 83 944 that has been sitting for about 2 years due to the timing snapped and the previous owner didn't feel like putting money into it.. Anyways, I changed the belts, head, plugs, coil, fuel filter(drained out all the old fuel aswell), ref/speed sensors, tps, maf, dme, injectors, fuel pressure regulator.. annnnd think thats about all. My issue is the car will start, but it'll die after a few seconds. Only way I can keep it running is if I spray some starter fluid in the throttle body and start the car while pumping the gas pedal, then the idle will get up there and will run fine, but as soon as I stop hitting the gas pedal it stalls out. Any ideas on what it could be? Could it be the gas is still mixing with the varnish on the bottom of the tank that its killing the octane allowing it not to stay running? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
