944 performance mods

What would the best performance mods be for a stock 944? I would like to get as much HP as possible. Later I will be doing some road racing with this car but for now it is light to light.

There really isn't much you can do for a naturally aspirated 944. Sad thing is, most minivans will take you off the line. In the corners is a different story. There are some chips out there that will get you 5-10hp, but anything past that is going to get expensive. Forget the cone air filter kits you see, any gain is lost by sucking in hot air. You could do a set of headers but it won't be cheap. You could supercharge it, but that is going to run you about 3500 bucks. Best thing you can do is upgrade the suspension (Coilovers, bigger sway bars, etc). Track the car, learn how to take the corners, and the car will be a lot of fun for you.

Sure, but you take the chance of popping the motor. Depends on what the risk is worth to you. Replacement motor's aren't very cheap for these cars.

Remember that I am putting a new engine in it right now. Cost was not cheap but the labor of putting it is sucks. I got the engine out this weekend and now am getting the flywheel resurfaced and installing a new clutch. I should be putting the engine back in this week. Do you think that a 50 or 75 HP nitrous shot would be that hard on a new engine?
