944 timing mark sender

I recently purchased an '87 944n/a that wasn't running, when the previous had put the timing belt on it was off by several teeth. After fixing this theengine spins butwon't start so I went through the standard steps, I jumped the dme realy , nothing happened, the tachometer bounces when the engine is spinning, theres spark at every cylinder and the all the injectors are firing. Also the comprssion seems to be good in all the cylinders. However when I wa searching for the problem I found that the timing mark sender ( part# 911-606-108-00-OEM)was not plugged into anything, and I could not find anywhere for it to plug into. Could this be the problem? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RE: 944 timing mark sender

That is a diagnostic sensor only, used to find TDC with the old porsche computer. It does not plug into anything.

I would do a compression test to make sure that the belt being off didn't bend valves.
