battery drain
 

Hello,
As I have had to jump start my 03 Targa (that I have owned for less than 6 months) for the second time this month, I have a question. As a precaution I leave the front lid popped for easy access incase I have to jump start the car. Does this activate the interior light? I have had the battery tested by the local dealer and they said it will hold a charge. After two weeks, it was dead again. I have bought a trickle charger (which I have started to use today) but wondered if the light is contributing to the drain.

For what it's worth, If I leave the hood open on my '07 Targa, the lights do stay on.. I was told to always lock the doors when storing my car. It sat for almost 3 months this winter in my garage and started right up.. Not sure what more i can say..

Is that your original battery? If so, may be time for a new battery

Not sure if this is of any value, but I had the same problem on my 1979 911SC. My trunk light wouldnot turn offwhen my hood was closed--obviously the batt drained. I checked this using the little black switch (79s had this right next to the light. It was a typical depression switch that closed when the hood closed thereby breaking the ground and shutting the light off, if working properly). Mine was screwed in so tight it never broke the ground. I simply loosened it and it works perfectly.For what it's worth I also disassembled the whole light and switch and ensured I seperated all wires, gaskets were fit properly, wire brushed all contacts and reassembled according to PET instructions.I realize this is the equivalent of kicking the TV to get it to work, but ?? I'm afraid its time for a new battery if you want reliability.
Always shut and lock all closures, doors hood, engine hatch. Otherwise there is continual small drain on the system, by just the alartm system working overtime etc.

mee too while I had a trickle charge hooked up. Didn't help much since the hood light was on[:@]
