Cayenne Rear Hatch Struts
 

I have a 2004 Cayenne, and it appears that the lift struts for the rear hatch (and rear window) need to be replaced as it will not stay up anymore. Has anyone attempted to do this themselves, and any pointers on the process? It does not look as easy as on my 944, since the struts disappear into the roof!

Also, it seems awfully early for this kind of a failure. Anyone know if this is a recurring problem for Cayennes?
