Coolant All Gone-Temp Gauge Fine

[sm=helpout.gif]I have an '01 Boxster that just got its 60K service, everything was fully checked out-cleared with flying colors. I noticed a little fluidrecently-a buddy saidprobably just an air conditioning discharge.

Last night afterI got home, it sounded like rainsystem under my car [sm=helpout.gif]. In one fell swoop, the coolant is all gone, some minor moisture on the cap. Temp gauge held steady at 180 all night, no warning signs. This is my first issue with the car...
1. To get the car to a mechanic, should I refill with water or Porsche authorized antifreeze?
2. From what I described, does it sound like a blown hose, pump (gulp) or something else?
3. How much should any of those fixes cost?
Thanks Fellow Porsche pals!

RE: Coolant All Gone-Temp Gauge Fine

Water is fine to fill with for now since it is not freezing. My guess is either you blew the waterpump, or the coolant tank cracked and drained. You can check the tank by popping the rear trunk, and looking under the carpet on the passenger side. If it is wet, then the tank is the problem. There is a drain hole in the trunk, so if it cracks, coolant will exit down by the passenger rear tire.
