misbehaving windows

I have a 98 boxster that has a mind of it's own. When I hit a hard bump, both windows decide to open. Sometimes to the partial opening to put down top and other times, right down. Sometimes, they will roll right back up and other times they will only go partially up. If the latter occurs, I have to open the top to get the windowsto go all the way up.
I sure would appreciate any info relating to this subject, sincerely, bob

RE: misbehaving windows

That would be the switch up in the overhead control panel. Look in the area where your locking mechanism (latch) for the convertible top goes up into the upper control panel. Inside is a microswitch. Either the latch is not making good contact or the microswitch is faulty. Try this: Put some felt on the part of the latch that strikes the microswitch.
