OIL LEVEL GAUGE

While it's fairly worthless the oil level gauge
in my 83 911 just zaps up and down crazily
driving my crazily...I've had enough but would
like to fix rather than disengage. Has anyone
else experienced this eradict behavior and
was it corrected with a new tank sending unit
or is it the gauge?.....THANKS in advance

RE: OIL LEVEL GAUGE

You can try a new sending unit. The oil level gauge should only read when the car is not moving at idle and the engine is warm. When you are driving, typically it shows in the red, but some movement is normal.

Porschedoc

THANKS...the movement, however is not a gradual movement...the needle
literally pegs back and forth on the guage very quickly up and down and then
settles for awhile. That's why I'm not sure if it's the sending unit that's
wacko or the gauge itself.

I would look to the sending unit first, sounds like it is coming apart, lol.
