Ignition on. Parking Brake On, Release front convertible top handle, open convertible top until the top seperates from the windshield frame. Stop. Get out of the car, look back at the rear of the convertible top. On each side of the top there is a cable you need to pop off. The lower end connected to the body is just a ball and socket joint, so you can just pull it off. Now follow the fabric of the top towards the trunk. You'll see the end of the fabric is a long plastic trim piece. PUsh it down and out of the clips. Now you can fold the rear part of the top forward. You will see the black tabs holding the carpet down. Remove 2 holding in the bose speaker box/storage cubby (if you have the speaker box, the electrical disconnect is a quick coupler on the passenger side). Set the box aside. Remove the other 2 clips holding the carpet down. Set aside. Now you are looking at the engine tin cover. Turn each of the 5 turnbuckles 90 degrees (cam lock system), and remove the cover. There is your engine.

Nah, once you learn how to do it once, it takes about 30 seconds :)
