suggestions for basic 996 HP upgrade

I have a 2001 C4 and would like help with the right mix of parts and an honest assessment of the HP result for new headers/mufflers and a new intake for this car. I plan on changing the exhaust system, the intake, and "chip" and would like recommendations on the specific intake, exhaust system, and "chip" (or reprogramming). What combination have people had success with and what have been the results. I can do the work myself (installations) and would like to keep the total cost below $3,000 if possible and end up with 30-50 rear wheel hp.

RE: suggestions for basic 996 HP upgrade

Hi,

I would highly recommend a fabspeed exhaust system, V flow intake, and GIAC chip. Our (www.imagineauto.com) stage 1 kit runs $1,690 and will add 25hp and 20tq to the wheels. This involves a V-flow intake and GIAC ECU flash tune. The intake installs in minutes, and you can pull the ECU and send it in to us, we can bench flash it, and next day it back to you.

Stage 2 runs $4,180, which takes the intake and ECU flash from Stage 1, and adds custom headers and high flow mufflers. This will add another 15hp.

The NA cars are a little harder to add horsepower to and it is pretty tough to get 50hp out of them, without adding a supercharger. We use GIAC programming because it is one of the best companies out there doing tuning software and has proven to be extremely safe for the engine.

If you want to talk about it more, PM me and I will give you my cell number or email, and we can chat.

Karl
