2000 996 PSM AND ABS LIGHT

Hi all, just found this great sight.

I was wondering if anyone could please help me before they take all my hard earned $$ tomorrow.

I have my vehicle scheduled for repairs tomorrow and the guy was rattling off...you need this...you need that...without even inspecting my vehicle.

My PSM and ABS light is coming on the second I brake. I bought the vehicle used so I don't know if I need new pads, etc.

I read some other websites and they mentioned that it may be a bad Maf sensor(what the heck is that??)

Possible bad brake light switch? My mechanic quoted me $400 less tax already. Quotes on website was about $300.00.

My brakes squeak a bit but other than that...you wouldn't know anything. The only reason I was warned was due to the light coming on in my vehicle.
The brake wear light just came on yesterday.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it is coming on with braking, then it is probably a bad brake switch. The engine MAF (mass air flow sensor) will also through those two lights if it is bad, but will not clear itself between driving the car.
