Default 944 oil pressure issue

Hi There
I am a relative new owner of a porsche 944 non-turbo stock porsche. I have in the past owned both a 912 and 911 but thought I would try a water cooled porsche this time. All of my porsche purchases have been for used vehicles. I really enjoy driving this 944 but recently have had a problem with my indicated oil pressure which has curtailed my driving. When starting the engine the indicated oil pressure imediately "pegs". I believe the oil pressure is really still the 40 or so pounds it did indicate but I need to know how to start finding the problem. So far I have been unable to locate the oil pressure sender. Any help here would really be appreciated. Clyde

Default RE: 944 oil pressure issue

Usually when the oil pressure pegs, it is a bad sending unit. The sending unit is on the oil cooler housing located beneath the oil filter.
