Long time Porsche fan, first time poster...

Just came across this forum the other day. I'm not an owner, but I am in the VERY beginning stages of looking for "my" car. Been on several other car forums (F-car, L-car, NSX), but am now leaning towards a Porsche. Idealy, I would love a late 964, early 993, but don't think budget will allow it while I build my airplane. The local classic car guy has a mid 70's 911 Targa (haven't looked close yet) that would be a great start. I've owned a lot of cars, mostly Japanease two seaters, but I need to find a thoroughbred that is within reach and won't cost me (hopefully) an arm and a leg to maintain.

Sayin' hello![sm=gears.gif]

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I would say that if you buy a good one in the first place, a Porsche shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg to maintain. The main cost with Porsches comparied to Japanese cars is the cost of spare parts.

I would check out the prices of parts and see if you are prepared to pay that little bit extra over other makes!

My dad was a pilot during WWII (P-51s) and flew all the years I was growing up - anything he could get his hands on, any time. I picked up some from him and flew as a hobby a bit years ago, but decided I had too many expensive vices and gave it up. No regrets really, but airplanes are interesting - actually as interesting as cars, you just can't drive them to work every day.
