New to the board. Should I get a 944?

Hi guys,

I am new to this board and am considering getting a Porsche 944 as a car to get to school. A friend of mine has one, I think it's a 1987 for $5,000. How are these cars to own? Are they reliable? Are they expensive to have worked on? What should I check before I get it?

Thanks!

I had several 944s in the past. I found them to be extremely reliable. However, I also found that many sellers around here did not take care of theirs and they were selling because of the high maintenance cost.
I paid a little bit more than I wanted when I bought my 944s but to me that was a wise decision because all I had to do was regular maintenance. By the way, my personal experience showed me that keeping up with the regular maintenance reduced the overall repairs (which I had none durig the time I owned my cars).

I can suggest you follow the link below to better assist you and Good Luck

Alex.

PS: Do not get offended by the idiotic answer Not Danno provided. A true Porsche owner should be classier than that.
