New Member! - First Porshe Purchase!

I just purchased my Silver 1984 944 tonight. I am Currently the owner of a 1993 3000GT Twin Turbo VR-4 w/ AWD.

I was looking for a daily driver and came apon this car, and have always loved the styling, so I purchased it even tho I needs a WHOLE lot of attention.

-Don't read if your faint at heart-

It was left outside for approx. 6 years with the Window down (They thought it was missing....)
So it has some interior damage and possibly needs some things.

I will not attempt to start this car until I drain the Oil, replace it, all the Colant, and the Fuel and put new in. All fluids.

I'm guessing I should also replace the Timing Belt, is there anything else?

Should I perform a Leak Down test or anything else as well prior to attempting to start it?

I know this will be a long project and eventually it will be back to its former glory or greater.

Any input will be appreciated and I'm happy to join the family!

Yes, make sure you at a minimum replace the timing and balance shaft belts and rollers before starting the car. I would replace the waterpump while you are in there as well. Change all the fluids, gas, etc. Pull the fuel pump fuse and crank the engine over to build oil pressure before starting the car.

Thanks Doc! That's great information, and I really appreciate the input. I will do all of that +.

Can't wait to get this baby running and back on the road again!
