Should I get a 1987 944?

I have the option to buy a 1987 Porsche 944, but dont know if it will be worth it. The owner said he would finance me if I put a $1600 down payment to him, he will finance the balance for me ($2900). I can use the money that I am not giving him to fix the small things I have found wrong with it. Is it worth it if I buy it being that it needs the following: rear seat belts, a stereo, rear seats needs to be redone with the leather, and other small interior things. From those of you who have a 944 is it going to be worth it to get this Porsche or should I keep looking? Any and all information is greatly appriciated. Thanks to all.

RE: Should I get a 1987 944?

Most important. Are all of the maintenance items up to date? My personal feeling is, that you should have at least $1500-2000 in your pocket for the first year of ownership. Would you mind if I looked at the car with you and the current owner? I could help you find out if all the necessary issues have been dealt with. Example, timing belt, water pump, tune up, clutch, fluid exchanges. Send me an email if you are interested.
