white smoke in exhaust
I've got a 2001 Boxter, but had a real problem yesterday. White smoke began pouring out of the exhaust, at first it was intermittant. But it began to look like a mosquito fogger. No warning lights came on, but I pulled over, and flames were coming out of the exhaust pipe. No other damager could be seen visually. Anyone have a clue as to what it might be?

Hope that it is a bad oil air seperator. If it is not that, then you have a slipped cylinder liner, IE catastrophic engine failure, and will require a new engine. Get it to a shop asap.

what kind of gas are you using? octane? when i bought my 2002 boxster S i didn't believe using 87 octane would have a bad effect. i was getting white smoke too, then i started using 89 octane, it went away, but i didn't have flames. try using higher octane gas, maybe at least 91 if you aren't already.

My car (1999 Boxster) is smoking, I think, badly. Plumes of white smoke at startup (only sometimes) and going down the road it will take a notion to lay a cloud of smoke for about 10 seconds and stop kinda like a cropduster. I have no loss of power in this time. After removing the oil/air separators, how can I tell that one is defective?
