Default Modafinil kept me awake for 30 hours on my first try! how dangerous is it?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place! I don't know where else to post this.

I tried it for the first time last week. I took 200mg and had read report after report that it was easy to get regular sleep while using it. Anyway I stayed up for nearly 2 days after just 1 dose. I took it at about 9am on, say, Monday, and then finally got about 3 hours sleep at around 5pm on Tuesday and then finally got asleep that night feeling okay.

I've read conflicting reports about Modafinil. Some say it's harmless and then the worst I've read is that 200mg gave someone a heart attack at age 29! How dangerous is it really? I didn't experience an increased heart rate or any bad side effects. I just felt really focused, it felt like a more natural version of caffeine. I loved the feeling but not being able to sleep was very impractical. Is there any sort of sleep aid that's safe to use with it? I read that Diphenhydramine is dangerous to take with it. Would it be okay to take maybe 5-10mg of Diazepam?

Anyway, anyone know how dangerous this stuff really is? Some people even say it ages you prematurely in a similar way to meth but I haven't read any of this on actual drug sites, it sounds like people guessing. Someone even said (on Quora I think) something along the lines of "you might as well take meth because this has all the same negative side effects but none of the high". I'm curious about people's general experiences, any tips on how to sleep, how much to take, the potential dangers, long term risks etc?

Thanks!

I take 300mg of modafinil https://nootropicboost.com/ everyday, with an option to increase it to 400 when required. It is prescribed to me because I have sleep apnoea and narcolepsy. I take it in combination with dexamfetamine 20 mg. My sleep specialist prescribes it for a lot of her patients, modafinil works in a very different way to other stimulants hence the cocktail.
My understanding, research and experience over several years has been that it is a very stable drug without the noticeable agitation, jitters and comedown of amphetamines.
You should have no need to be concerned about any long term ill effects. Also, diazepam is fine to use as required while taking it, I have had both prescribed PRN without any red flags.
